The Inheritance and Trustees’ Powers Bill received Royal Assent on 14 May 2014 – but what does this mean in practice? Broadly, changes to s31 and s 32 of the Trustee Act 1925, a more modern definition of personal chattels together with some minor changes to the intestacy rules and an extension to the definition of those who can bring a claim to those who have been maintained by the deceased.
