It seems that a number of parents have been waiting until the last minute to open a CTF account. In particular, when applications have been completed by internet or by telephone the voucher could be received by the provider after its expiry date in which case the account could not be opened. To alleviate this problem, from 7 February 2006 an account can be opened provided the voucher is with the provider within the period of seven days following the expiry date.

We obtained 2 attachments today following our e-mail to HMRC yesterday and made them into links. HMRC to allow non-UCITS retail schemes to qualify for the CTF, if they allow CTF accounts to be freely transferred. HMRC to allow 'alternative finance arrangements' (which can be used for Shari'a accounts) to qualify for the non-stakeholder CTF.
