Sipps Are Safe From Unintended Taxation For NS&I Gebs 1 - 7. NS&I's Written Confirmation Of Likely Inland Revenue VIew Shown

NS&I products are not allowable investments for a Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) because NS&I is not a licensed deposit taker. The Inland Revenue says however, that it will 'view sympathetically any schemes which have invested in such products where the investments have been made in good faith that the regulations did allow them.' This implies that existing customers who made purchases based on earlier advice from the Inland Revenue are safe (GEB Issues 1 - 7). We duplicate NS&I's letter of 3 June 2004.

National Savings & Investments (NS&I) Investments Not Eligible As SIPP Investments

Pensions Update 146 - Scheme Rules Must Comply With Permitted Investments Regulations By 6 April 2004

Pensions Update 146 has reminded providers of personal pension schemes that they need to make sure that their scheme rules are fully compatible with the Personal Pensions Schemes (Restriction on Discretion to Approve) (Permitted Investments) Regulations 2001 by no later than 6 April 2004. If not scheme approval will be removed.
